Michael “Mike” Sweeney
I am a PhD candidate affiliated with the Center for Statistical Genetics and Department of Biostatistics at the University of Michigan. My PhD research in statistical, machine learning, and artificial intelligence methods and applications in genome science is supervised by Dr. Hyun Min Kang.
Prior to attending the University of Michigan, I received a BS degree in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics & Statistics from Stony Brook University. My undergraduate research was advised by Dr. Richard Moffitt.
I am a first-generation student passionate about fostering community and inclusion in STEM fields, and I have had the pleasure of volunteering in admissions and recruitment throughout my academic career.
